Before there was a Special Investigations unit, all of the weird, strange unexplainable cases were informally labelled as “Black” files.  The cops who got handed those cases (because they were in deep to the Brass, politically naive or just plain unlucky) were known by other CPD officers as “Black Cats”.

A series of domestic disturbances plagues the precinct.  Nothing seems to connect them except for witnesses claiming that a “creepy guy with an eye-patch” was seen in the area before each incident.  The latest case ended in murder.  Det. Colin Murphy has been assigned the case and he and his misfit team must find out what’s really going on before the violence escalates into a riot that will rival the damage done by the Chicago Fires.

A table-top interpretation of Valve’s hit shooter.

There were over two hundred residents at your facility before the “Green Flu” hit, some French team flew in with bites all over them, and then people started changing. First there was the sickness, followed by homicidal rage, then mutation.

The six of you locked yourselves in the core-sampling chamber two weeks ago. You’ve got fuel, a generator and a heater but the food ran out four days ago. It’s time to move, that or starve to death.  Maybe McMurdo held out. Maybe the radio’s silent because of the poor transmission.  You’re going to have to fight your way to the garage, hoping there’s a still functioning Terra Bus or Snow Cat left. Or you could just stay in your cold, dark hole and listen to the moans until hunger and shock take all your cares away.

A frontier settlement on the edge of nothing California, Scottsburg was not just a home; it was the last refuge for its inhabitants.  Criminals, dilatants, and hard working miners that could not find a place anywhere else in the world carved out a small niche there, ever mindful of how tenuous their hold on the town is.

The bounty of Scottsburg, long unnoticed by neighbors in the east, caught the attention of a entrepreneur O. C. Wheelock. His appearance in the town was a swift and painful one; turning private gold miners out of their homes, moving his own employees in and letting them have run of the town.  He held the deed to the town and threatened that if his will was contested he would bring in authorities that would not only enforce his claim on the land but make life for Scottsburg’s inhabitants impossible.

Life was further complicated by a pox that has slowly been spreading through the town.  Effort to treat and quarantine the sick was an uphill battle, being lost each day in pints of blood and puss, running deeper than the streams of gold beneath them.  Welcome to Scottsburg, welcome home.

The first “BadThoughts.com” convention is being held, and all of the cylebrities (internet celebrities) of the site are in attendance.  A group of internet pranksters and meme-originators, this is a kind of who’s-who for this one “corner” of the Internet.

Someone uninvited is in attendance, someone who has a bone to pick with you for being snubbed this year.  How could you overlook someone so important?  And how far will he go to force you to remember him?

(I promise this is not a torture-porn RPG.)
