FAQ
Some Frequently Asked Questions about Good Omens.
Who or what is Good Omens?
Generally speaking, Good Omens is club for roleplaying game GMs. Specifically we’re a collection of gamemasters with a passion for running a variety of games at conventions. Our focus is on putting together con games that are as memorable as they are fun. We want our players to fondly remember a game years after they’ve played in it.
What is a Good Omens Production?
When you see ‘A Good Omens Production’ listed at a convention, it simply means it will be run by one of our gamemasters. While we can’t promise you that it will be the best game that you ever played in, or that we are the best GMs out there, we can promise you that a lot of effort went into the game. A typical GO game entails hours of story building, prop collecting, and organization. Some of our GMs even put their games through a quality assurance play-test prior to being run at a convention.
Why should I play in a Good Omens game?
Since we are a collection of GMs with individual styles and genre preference, there’s no guarantee that our games will be up your alley. What we can promise is that you won’t feel like the GM ran a game just to get a free pass to a convention. Check us out. If you like what you see, let us know. If you don’t, let us know how we can improve.
Why should I play in non-GO games?
Because variety is the spice of life! We run a lot of games, but we can’t cover every genre. We also don’t assume that we are the best GMs in the world. As a paying convention customer, you should go to whatever game floats your boat!
What games do you run?
The list is long! Our GMs have a vast array of styles and preferences, and our game offerings reflect that. We try to bring a variety of games to conventions, so we often avoid games that are already well-represented at cons, so you don’t see us do a lot of Dungeons and Dragons, for example. It’s simply a matter of trying to make sure other games are well-represented. We do, however, stand behind almost any system and will run it when whimsy compels us to, or when you request one through one of our improvement surveys.
Who can join Good Omens?
Any gamemaster can join! Just like you might have some guidelines as to who you let come into your house to play an RPG, we have some guidelines for who joins our group. Simply put, we ask that our prospective game masters let us see them in action behind the GM screen. It’s a chance for us to get to know you and your GM style. We often phrase this as an ‘audition’ game, but really it’s an informal game and critique session.
In addition, non-GO players and GMs can sometimes attend our play-tests!
